The Secrets of Our Recipe
Our formulation has been exclusively developed with highly valued and precious ingredients. It is a mixture of four fatty plant oils – Almond Oil, Soybean Oil, Sesame Oil and Jojoba Oil- each with unique and powerful benefits- serving as a carrier for the volatile German Chamomile oil.
The pH-value of this formulation is adjusted to pH5-5.3. This slightly acidic ph-Value is crucial for the maintainance of the physiological balance of skin. The pH value of the skin surface is approximately 5, which is why we talk about the skin’s “acidic protection layer”.
Our Cream and Lotion are oil-in-water emulsions, easily washable with water.

Inkarna® CHAMOMILLA chamomile oil cream and Lotion
Almond oil has been highly estimated for centuries in cosmetic preparations. It has a pleasant smell, smoothes rough spots, is perfectly skin compatible and is suitable for every skin type – especially also for sensitive, dry skin and for delicate baby´s skin. It is quickly absorbed deep into the skin and is perfectly suited to take the chamomile oil to the deeper corneous layer of the epidermis.
Soybean oil is one of the most precious plant oils for cosmetic purposes. It is abundant in unsaturated skin-friendly oils, especially in triglycerides of oleic and linoleic acid, as well as in α-linolenic acid, which is important for skin physiology. It is rich in natural vitamin E, makes the skin soft and supple, and has a slight tightening effect. Due to its high content of lecithin it binds water in the corneous layer of the skin and thus preserves its natural moisture. Of course the soybean oil we use is not from genetically modified soya, but stems from the natural wild form of the soya plant.
Glyerylstearate is an ester of glycerol with stearic acid. It has good emulsifying properties, , makes the skin supple, is wrinkle-filling and offers also effective protection from free radicals, which are generated in the skin e.g. when it is exposed to ultraviolet radiation, air pollution or smoking.
The better sperm whale oil (spermaceti).
For a long time spermaceti, a fatty, wax-like substance that was taken from the greatly enlarged forehead of the sperm-whale, was a sought-after basic substance for cosmetic preparations. Fortunately, in 1984 the International Whaling Commission pronounced a whaling ban. The emollient and emulsifying effects of spermaceti can easily be achieved as well (or even better) with cetearyl alcohol, a fatty alcohol extracted from plant oils.
Glycerol is an outstanding natural moisturizer. It prevents the product from drying and provides the skin with moisture.
In our view glycerol is superior to other hydrating substances (like for example urea or hyaluronic acid) and furthermore has some additional positive effects: it stabilizes the emulsion and lowers the so-called water activity. As a result, microorganisms cannot use the water easily for their reproduction. Thus glycerol takes part in the natural conservation concept of our chamomile products.
Sesame oil is one of the best massage oils. It has a very long tradition, amongst others in ayurvedic therapy, where it is used internally and externally for detoxification cures. Despite its high content in unsaturated fatty acids it has a high thermal-oxidative stability, due to its content of natural antioxidants. It permeates well into the skin and is excellent carrier oil for active ingredients – perfectly suited as an absorption enhancer for our chamomile oil.
Jojoba oil is a liquid plant wax. Because of its long-lasting effects to maintain a good moisture balance it is highly estimated for mature and dry skin. As acne-causing bacteria cannot metabolize it, it can be an insider tip for the care of impure skin. Moreover it has good emulsifying properties and is extraordinary stable against oxidation.
Natural sun protection from rice germ oil.
The fruit walls and seed coats of rice germs contain a very interesting substance class, so-called phytosterol-ferulic-acid-esters. They serve the plant as a protection from light-and heat induced oxidation. They can be isolated from the plant and and then they are called “oryzanol”. In human skin oryzanol leads to a significant reduction of light-induced degenerative damage to elastic and collagen fibres. Therefore it is an ideal active ingredient against premature light-induced skin aging and is perfectly suited as an “After-Sun-application” and for the care of dry, low-fat and mature skin.
The radical catcher.
Vitamin E protects the cells from damages caused by oxygen radicals, UV-radiation and environmental toxins. It supports the chamomile oil in its anti-inflammatory and wound healing properties and increases the water-binding capacity of the corneal layer. As a result the skin becomes firmer and smoother.
We are catching the soul of chamomile flowers – the volatile oil, which is found in the flowers in a very low concentration – by a special steam distillation technique. The deep blue color results during steam distillation, when the ingredient matricine is transformed into chamazulene.
The volatile oil which we use for our chamomile products exceeds the quality requirements laid down for flowerheads of true chamomile by the European Pharmacopoeia. Our experience in distillation is the basis of a unique oil, which still contains the whole variety of active ingredients.
We guarantee that the chamomile oil in our Inkarna® products is distilled from freshly harvested chamomile flowers of our own cultivation and originates to 100 % from Chamomilla recutita (L.) Rauschert. We exclusively use the high-value „bisabolol-chemotype“, which is specified in the European Pharmacopoeia!
True chamomile is one of most manifold and most precious plants for combining beauty with health. A main reason for this is its volatile oil. Many creams contain components of chamomile oil (like azulene or bisabolol) in a synthetic form, but they do not have the same holistic effect like the natural oil with its complex variety of ingredients.
True blue German chamomile oil has a very low allergenic potential. Nevertheless we recommend – especially when there is a known allergy against composite plants – to first test the cream or lotion on the wrist or the forearm and check out the individual compatibility.
